WRITE WHEN YOU CAN, FOR THE WORDS CAN QUICKLY DISAPPEAR

I think I’ve written a post or two before on this topic, but, here we go again. 🙂

One of the things I’ve found through trying to write my novel and my efforts at writing consistently (“consistently”) is that writer’s block is a very real and difficult thing.

Inspirational moments of intense, brilliant ideas sometimes are very few and far between. If you feel it, write it. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

If you can’t find the words, take a break. This is only my opinion, and for others this doesn’t work. Continue reading “WRITE WHEN YOU CAN, FOR THE WORDS CAN QUICKLY DISAPPEAR”

EDITING… THE TEDIOUS TASK

The progress of my novel so far is… well, better than when I began blogging a few months ago.

Apparently my novel has a mind of it’s own, or perhaps it’s just my mind lacking proper skill and determination.

The toughest part for me has been the editing. Oh, the editing… I’ve been editing the thing for over a year. A year! I know, I know. Writing takes time. But a year is just so long if you think about it.

IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE AN EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER, WRITE A BOOK

If you really want to test yourself, write a novel. Novel: a longer book that ranges from 75,000-120,000 words (another source claimed 60,000-100,000 words), depending on font choices.

I went into the process of writing my first (and current) novel with the sole intent of writing a novel, just to see if I could accomplish it. I was so happy when I hit that 80,000th word! (since that’s what I thought to be the definition of a novel at the time.)

Here’s what I did, and didn’t, expect… Continue reading “IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE AN EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER, WRITE A BOOK”

TAKING ADVANTAGE OF INSPIRATION TO OVERCOME WRITER’S BLOCK

INSPIRATION FUELED BY PASSION

Yesterday I had a new idea pop into my head for a story.

A real idea that I could see as a book.

So, as you can imagine, I got pretty excited about it and wanted to start writing right away! This was around five o’clock.

And then… Continue reading “TAKING ADVANTAGE OF INSPIRATION TO OVERCOME WRITER’S BLOCK”

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY – I NEED ALL THE LUCK I CAN GET TO FINISH MY NOVEL!

So, my flare-up has gotten a bit better, but I still haven’t managed to post in a few days. I’ve been working on posts, they’ve just been taking extra long and haven’t managed to get onto the blog. Maybe because I’ve been waiting until midnight to start writing them… Yeah. Good time management.

I so want to be done my novel! I would feel great to have it done, and out there, and just DONE. I never realized the turmoil of emotions that go with writing a novel over the course of several years. One moment I hate it so much, the other I love it – well, maybe not “love” – rather, feeling connected to it, that maybe it seems like a “real story”, and/or proud that I wrote something so long. Right now I hate it again. My novel is just weighing on me!

The following was taken from another post I started and haven’t published yet, because I feel lazy right now and thought it might fit better here anyway. 🙂 Continue reading “HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY – I NEED ALL THE LUCK I CAN GET TO FINISH MY NOVEL!”
