BEING NICE

“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.”
Henry James

I think every single one of us has had a not-so-pleasant experience, particularly in the customer service area – anything in the public, really.

Maybe they’re having a bad day, or you did the thing that annoys them the most – who knows? It’s understandable that they won’t be perfectly chipper each and every time they deal with somebody, they’re doing it all day long.

But… being on that receiving end of the unpleasant train just honestly sucks. Especially when you’re not feeling up to par yourself.

Especially when it takes everything out of you to simply interact with people… Having anxiety, and depression, and everything else that makes it hard to just exist.

“Treat everyone with politeness and kindness, not because they are nice, but because you are.”
Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

No one’s perfect. We can try.

That extra pinch of niceness can make somebody’s day. The harshness of a bad experience, even if just a simple, quick interaction, can ruin somebody’s day – or life, depending on circumstances.

“One kind word can change someone’s entire day”
